The dialog box presented below allows testing the connectivity and display the test result accordingly. To invoke the dialog select the menu
Tools | Nets | Connectivity Test and click on the workspace.
Given below is a brief description of the parameters provided in the above window.
This window appears with three tabs – Select
Net, Connectivity Test and Result.
The Select Nets tab displays the list of nets available in the currently loaded project. Select the nets to be tested and move them to the next frame using the arrow buttons.
The Connectivity Test tab has three option buttons
Stop at first fail Interrupts the testing when the first discontinuity is encountered.
Test all selected nets Tests all the selected nets and continues with testing till all errors are met.
Test single net Tests only a single net at a time. Select this option and enter the net to be tested, in the text-input box. When the test setup is over, click the button TEST in order to perform the specified test. If no faulty nets are found, the status bar shows the message All tested net[s] fully connected.
Click the
TEST button to initiate the Connectivity test process.
The Results tab displays the final results of the Connectivity test. Here faulty nets, if any, are displayed.
This tab is mainly divided into four parts -
Faulty Nets, Unconnected Nodes, Nodes in split trace Branches and Nodes in Split
Copper Pour Areas. The list box Faulty nets lists the netnames of the faulty ones and the test performed.
The unconnected nodes, if there are any, in the highlighted net gets displayed in the list box named Unconnected Nodes.
The list box on the left side of the Node(s) for Split trace Branches frame lists the nodes connected to split trace branches
for the highlighted net. The component name and pin no. where the connection in a branch is split, are displayed for
each branch in the right side of this frame. The list box on the left side of the Nodes for Split Copper Pour
Areas frame lists the nodes split from the copper pour areas belonging to the same net.
The list box on the right side displays the layer where the branch is split from the copper pour area. In order to remove this error,
change the airgap for this net to zero. Click
CLOSE button to exit this window.
