Visionics Sweden HB Ltd, introduced the first EDA package - The CAD ABC in 1983. It was the very first PC-based EDA system gained prominence with its idea of automating the Electronic Design Procedures and its flexibility and ease of use. Increasing demand for the tool stimulated the research and development of the EDA Applications. Ever since then, Visionics have regularly introduced state-of-the-art PC-based EDA systems based on the latest technologies, be it hardware or software.

At end of 2019, EDWin is passed to DCT Co.,Ltd., a Chinese-German joint venture who offers high precision laser material processing machine, PCB prototyping machine, as well as related EDA/CAD software. The founder of DCT, Mathias Hu, once teaching on PCBs designing courses in a vocational training center and made great contribution on the promotion and application of CAD software in China. Besides Protel, he is also familiar with EE System/Designer and ECAD software ColorCAM. In 1990s, he tried to set up business relationship with EDWin. ColorCAM is written by one of the shareholders of DCT, LKSoftWare GmbH, Germany. The founder of LKSoftware, Lothar Klein, is a pioneer in EDA/CAD software development. CircuitCAM, IDA-Step are developed by him, which are passed to DCT years before. DCT took over these software for further development and will keeps in tune with the fast paced technology.

Product History

Over the years, we have been continuously introducing new EDA packages and new technologies. To mention a few - CAD 1000, Comp CAD and the EE Designer series, has been setting standards for others to follow and has won many international awards. Even more important is the trust and confidence that we won from our customers all over the world, always to be on the leading edge of technology and always to deliver the best possible solution in PC-based EDA. Now we have come up with EDWinXP with a powerful set of modules - 3D Viewers and Editors, VHDL Editor with facility of automatic project creation from VHDL source and Converters (CUPL, JEDEC, XILINX), Board Analyzers, Project Version Control, Gerber/ Excellon/ DXF/HPGL Viewer, Model Generators from VHDL for Mixed Mode and EDSpice Simulators with facility of automatic creation of model/ library along with other features. We have continuously evolved from the EE Designer III, EDWin, EDWin32 constantly adding on, with the latest technological demands till EDWinXP.
