Thermal Analyzer is an application that allows analyzing the effects of temperature parameters in the functioning of the circuit. The thermal effects generated by the board parameters, component parameters, cooling parameters etc. may directly influence the working of the circuit.

• Right click on the PCB Layout and select Board Analyzers from the list.

• Select Thermal Analyzer tab.

• Click on Settings from the Analysis Menu to set different parameters that may affect the working of the circuit .
• By default ,it opens with the Board parameters tab,Cooling parameters,Temperatures,Display options can be set in the above window.Click on Set to Default.

• Click on Run Thermal Analysis menu to run the Thermal Analysis.
• This tool, when selected, runs the thermal analysis with the parameters set and displays the isotherms according to the density set.

• When the analysis is completed, the result may be displayed with the help of isotherms or color mapping scheme by selecting the appropriate option from the View menu.

• 3D View allows to view the temperature distribution on the circuit in the form of a 3D graph. The higher the temperature, the higher will be the location of the point on the graph.

• From the result it may be easy to identify the most heated up component so a heat sink may be used.
• To simulate the heat sink effect, Select the tool Component Parameter and click on the component.
• A Thermal Parameters window pops up where you may set the cooling parameter for the component. Check Component Mounted Heat Sink check box, enter the Thermal Resistance of Heatsink (e.g. 1.2°C/Watt) value and click OK.

• Repeat the same step for all other components and execute the analysis again.
