Layer Alignment in Gerber files

The Gerber files of a PCB may have layers, which are aligned in different position. In some case, it may not be aligned to the layers to grid, or to pad positions, end point of element, centre point of elements etc. The misaligned layers can be aligned using Align Layers options in Gerber/ Excellon/ DXF/ HPGL viewer. The functions of the option tools and its working are as follows:

Align to Grid

This option tool allows snapping the contact points on the selected layer to the grid. For this, select this option tool or press key F1. Select the contact point , which is to be aligned. Now clicking on the grid, aligns the selected contact point to grid.

Align to Pad Position or Hole

This tool allows snapping the contact points on the selected layer exactly on a pad or hole positions. For this, select this option tool or press key F2. Select the contact point, which is to be aligned. Now clicking on the pad position or hole, aligns the selected contact point to the pad positions or hole.

Align to End Point of Element

This option allows snapping the contact points on the selected layer exactly to the end point of the element. For this, select this option tool or press key F3. Select the contact point, which is to be aligned. Now clicking on the end point of the element, aligns the selected contact point to that position.

Align to Centre Point of Element

This tool allows snapping the contact points on the selected layer exactly to the centre point of the element. For this, select this option tool or press key F4. Select the contact point, which is to be aligned. Now clicking on the centre point of the element, aligns the selected contact point to that position.
