Project Version Control

Project version control enables storing of differentversions of a project in the same disk file. Current version may be saved at any time and all saved versions become part of the same project database. Any saved version may be restored immediately and set as current.

Project Version Control can be evoked from Project Explorer in two ways:-

Select Version Control either from Task list or Task bar of Project Untitled
Select Version Control either from Task list or Task bar of Version Base.

Project Version control window appears as shown in figure below.

Restore

Purpose: Restores selected version as active.

Operation: Select the version to be restored by clicking on respective row and then click on Restore button to activate the selected version.

Delete

Purpose: Deletes selected version.

Operation: Select the version to be deleted by clicking on respective row and then click on Delete button

Edit Remarks

Purpose: Allows editing remarks for selected version.

Operation: For editing the remarks, select the version by clicking on respective row and then click on Edit remarks button. Edit the remarks and click on Accept button

Rename

Purpose: Allows renaming the selected version.

Operation: For renaming, select the version by clicking on respective row and then click on Rename button. Rename the project and click on Accept button.

Load Project

Purpose:Allows to select and load epb/epx files as project version. This function may be used to reconstruct single project database with several versions that were stored as separate database files (.epb) in previous versions of EDWinXP.

Operation: For loading the project as version .Click onLoad project button and then select the project to be loaded as the version.

Save project

Purpose: Allows saving selected version as project .epb

Operation:For saving the current version as project, select the version by clicking on respective row and click on Save button and then save the project.

General Info

Purpose: Gives information about Package, Parts, Nets, Buses, Layout Components and Schematic Components of the selected version.

Operation: To view the general information about the selected version, click on General info button. The Layout Component information’s of the current version displays as shown in figure below.

Select Circuit:Displays and allows selecting the circuit from the list.

Layout components:Displays an info window with Layout components tab activated, where the layout components used in the current project version and information associated with each get listed

Schematic components:Displays an info window with Schematic component tab activated, where the schematic component used in the current project version and information associated with each get listed

Parts:Displays an info window with Partstab activated, listing the parts used in the current Project version and information associated with each Part.

Packages:Displays an info window with Packagetab activated, listing the Packages used in the current Project version

Symbols:Displays an info window with Symboltab activated, listing the symbols used in the current Project version and information associated with each symbol.

Nets:Displays an info window with Nettab activated, listing information of all nets present in the current Project version.

Buses:Displays an info window with Busestab activated that provides aerial information about the buses used in the Project version.

PCB Statistics

Purpose: Displays information related to the board such as board dimension, number of components, pads, holes for pins, via holes, total holes etc of the selected project version. This also gives information about the layer usage such as layer name, number of trace segments, pad items and copper items in each layer

Operation: To view the PCB Statistics for the selected version, click on PCB statistics button. The PCB layout property window appears as shown in figure below.

General:Displays various parameters associated with the board such as board size, number of components, pads, holes etc of the selected project version.

Layers: Display details of number of traces, pads and copper items on each layer of the selected project version.

Compare

Purpose:Displays the difference between the selected and active project versions.

Operation:To compare the difference between the selected and active project version. Select the version to compare with by clicking on respective row and then click on Compare button. The Project version comparison window appears as shown in figure below.

Project:General properties of the selected and active versions can be obtained by selecting this option. Click on Project to list all properties of the loaded versions. Details about the components used in the project such as (Schematic/ Layout components, pads, nets etc) and project status of the two projects will be listed as shown in the figure. It also gives separate information about the components attached with mixed mode and EDSpice parameters.

Project Properties: Opens a window displaying the properties to be included, when the project comparison list is created. Items in the property window may be selected /deselected to obtain the corresponding list.

Note: All the properties can be selected/deselected simultaneously using Ctrl+A key.

Show Difference:Displays the difference between the selected and active version according to the Project properties. Figure below shows project difference of active and selected version. The difference is displayed in Red.

Circuit:This option displays the circuit properties of the selected and active versions. Selecting Circuit, properties such as number of pages used in the circuit, details of components in each of the pages, Layout components, and information about board, nets, Hierarchy, layers etc may be listed.

Circuit Properties: Selecting this option opens a window displaying the properties to be included when the circuit comparison list is created. Items in the property window may be selected/ unselected to obtain the corresponding list.

Show Difference:Display the difference between the selected and active version according to the circuit properties.

Diagram:This option lists details of the selected and active versions diagram properties. Diagram properties such as, name of the circuit, information about nets and pages, general component details (component count, component name) etc are displayed.

Diagram Properties: Selecting this option opens a window displaying the properties to be included when the Diagram comparison list is created. Items in the property window may be selected/ unselected to obtain the corresponding list.

Show Difference:Displays the difference between the selected and active version according to the diagram properties

PCB Layout:This option displays details such as name of the Circuit, total Layout Components, total Connections, board size, Pads, Vias, Holes, Layers, unrouted connections etc.

Layout Properties: Selecting this option opens a window displaying the properties to be included when the list for layout comparison is created. Items in the property window may be selected/ unselected to obtain the corresponding list.

Show Difference:Displays the difference between the selected and active version according to the layout properties

Nets:Select this option to display details of all nets used in the selected and active versions.

Net Properties: Selecting this option opens a window displaying the properties to be included when nets comparison is created. Items in the property window may be selected/ unselected to obtain the corresponding list.

Show Difference:Displays the difference between the selected and active version according to the Net properties

Hierarchy:Select this option to display all hierarchies of the selected and active version.

Show Difference:Displays the difference between the selected and active version hierarchy.
