Tear Drop Autogeneration

The window presented below allows setting the shape and size of the tear drop pads to be created. It may be invoked from the menu Preferences | Tear Drop pads.

Given below is a brief description of the parameters provided in the above window.

Autogeneration Options

 Allows creating tear drops on pads depending on the option selected from the drop down list. Pads are created either on all placement layers or on the currently active placement layer only.

TearDrops on component PMD pads

Allows creating teardrops on component PMD pads.

TearDrops on component SMD pads

 Allows creating teardrops on component SMD pads.

TearDrops on vias

Allows creating teardrops on vias.

Tear Drop Sizing options

 Allow to set the tear drop sizes depending either on the pad size or the length along the trace upto which the tear drop should extend. The parameters grouped under this heading are as follows.

Sizing Dependent On

Allows to set the sizing of tear drop according to the option selected from the drop down list. If Pad Size is selected, the corresponding Ratio value may be entered in the susequent row. If Trace Length is selected, the corresponding Length value may be entered in the susequent row.

Ratio/ Length

Value of ratio/ length may be entered depending on the option selected in the previous drop down list.

Make drops concave

 Allows setting the shape of the tear drop pads to concave.
